Samsung Galaxy Review

The Galaxy tablet from Samsung is one of the smallest handheld computing devices you can buy. It is designed to be held with one hand, and is small enough to fit in the back pocket of your jacket.

A very popular app makes typing much quicker on the Galaxy: the Swype app. This cool program allows the user to type with one continual finger motion for each word. Therefore, if one want to do a lot of typing or texting, it could go faster on the Galaxy than the iPad.

If you take a quick look the Galaxy tab, you will quickly see it is not trying to be exactly like the iPad. To begin with, it’s smaller in size – only 8 x 5 inches as opposed to the iPad’s 10 x 8 inches. Then, the Galaxy uses the Android OS and come out of the box with a number of popular Android apps. Lastly, this tab has a couple important specs that the iPad doesn’t have: front and backward facing cameras, and a jack for additional solid state memory using an SD card. The card has double the in-device storage. The extra memory card is especially helpful if you store a lot of photos or movies.

You might ask why you should buy this tablet instead of another. Well, it’s a good choice if you desire more portability than the larger iPad. Plus, if you like the Android app store, the Galaxy is one of the tabs that has it. The Android OS allows some extra functionality over what you can get from the Apple device. For example, you can video chat. Additionally, you can display Flash-based websites, which you can’t on the Apple.

This tablet comes with built-in Google apps, so it has easy access to many popular Google mobile programs. Some of these are Google Search with voice recognition, Google Maps, Google IM, and Picasa. This tablet can also access the Android Market, which has over 150K apps available for download.
